Islamic dream book
People spend a considerable part of their earthly life sleeping. At this time, most of us experience dreams that do not depend on human consciousness. For this reason, we don't always see what we want.
Do you not see how your Lord spreads a shadow? If He wanted, He would make it motionless. Then We make the sun its guide and gradually compress it towards Us. It is He who made the night a covering for you, sleep a rest, and the day a revival (25:47)
All dreams can be divided into three types:
- from the Almighty - these are favorable dreams, after which a person wakes up in a good mood. If you dreamed of them, the believer should thank the Lord of the worlds for this. His Messenger (s.g.v.) o (Bukhari, Muslim);
- from Shaitan - these are bad dreams, nightmares. Having awakened after them, a Muslim must ask his Creator for help against the instigations of the shaitan. The continuation of the above-mentioned hadith says: “If he sees something negative, then let him call for the protection of Allah and not report this dream to anyone, in which case it will not harm him.” In another narration cited by Imam Muslim, the following advice is also given: “... let him spit to the left three times and turn over to the other side.” The following hadith, which is contained in the collections of Imam Bukhari, recommends that a Muslim who sees something bad in a dream should get up and pray. Regarding the prohibition of telling others about a bad dream, the narration from Tirmidhi states that it is permissible to share it with a very close person or a scientist. This is explained by the fact that a loved one will help and morally support, and the alim will be able to interpret it;
- neutral - characterize a person’s thoughts, his aspirations and desires, but at the same time they cannot be called either good or bad.
Prophetic dreams
Some dreams can carry certain information about the past, present and even future. The mercy of the worlds Muhammad (s.g.w.) called them “one of the 46 parts of prophecy” (Bukhari). Moreover, as the Day of Judgment approaches, the number of prophetic dreams will increase.
According to hadiths, people who adhere to sincerity in everything dream about them more often. The Prophet (s.a.w.) said: “Prophetic dreams are often seen by those who are truthful in their statements” (Muslim). In addition, prediction dreams are most likely to occur in the last third of the night. Also, according to theologians, the chances of seeing a prophetic dream increase for those who fall asleep in a state of ritual purity, read the Koran before, eat exclusively halal food and do not commit serious sins.
At all times, Islamic scholars have paid special attention to the interpretation of dreams, since they can contain a message that is important for a particular person. The main emphasis in revealing the meaning of dreams was on the provisions of the Koran and the Noble Sunnah, but other sources were also used.
The Islam.Global website contains interpretations of a wide variety of dreams. For ease of use, all objects, phenomena and creatures that Muslims may dream about are placed in alphabetical order.

Dreams in Islam
If we follow what is said in reliable hadiths transmitted in such authoritative Muslim collections as the collections of Bukhari and Muslim, then regarding dreams the Sunnah has a certain position according to which:
- dreams are part of the prophecy, and the words of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ are quoted verbatim: “ Prophetic dreams are one forty-sixth part of the prophecy ”;
- with their help, Revelations were transmitted to the prophets;
- the extent to which a dream brings true revelation depends on how sincere the person who went to bed and saw them is, and therefore only those people who are sincere in their words can see truly truthful dreams;
- dreams will become prophetic closer to the end of time, and as proof of this, the words of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ are cited that this will happen due to the fact that the prophecy, as well as its effect, will be forgotten over time, and for believers dreams will represent a kind of compensation , and good news will be sent down for them, and with this news there will be Muslims who will see them and talk about them, becoming even more steadfast and patient in their faith. The same applies to the miracles that happened after the Sahaba - no miracles happened in their times, because there was no need for them, because the faith of the people was strong and persistent. But after the Sahaba came people who were weaker in their faith and therefore they needed miracles.
Types of dreams
Dreams are divided into three types, including:
- Rahmani, that is, dreams from Allah Almighty;
- Shaitani, that is, dreams from Shaitan;
- Nafsani, that is, dreams that the subconscious sends us.
According to the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, dreams from the devils lead the person who sees them into disorder. And dreams from one’s soul are dreams that come from a person’s thoughts: what he thinks about before going to bed or what he encounters in his daily life, he will see in his dream.
Dreams and the religion of Islam
The Prophet Muhammad, a preacher and a central figure in the development of the Islamic religion, claimed that in dreams Allah takes souls whenever He wishes and also returns them at His greatest desire. A prophetic dream is a revelation of Allah in human consciousness.
True Muslims, more often than others, mere mortals, are able to see prophetic dreams. This is also explained in the Holy Scripture - the Koran. The closer humanity comes to the onset of the Day of Judgment, the more truthful the dreams of the faithful of Islam will become.
Other interpretations
Often dreams have opposite interpretations. For example:
- Crying is a sign of joy. And if crying is accompanied by some kind of plaintive sound, it means trouble.
- Laughing in a dream means sadness. Just smiling brings prosperity.
- Nuts portend wealth, crackling from nuts - to conflicts.
Interpretation according to proper names
- Rashid - truth and prudence.
- Salim - well-being and security.
- Said is happiness.
- Nafi - benefit.
- Ukbat is a successful result.
- Rafi - excellence.
- Ahmad - glorification.
- Salih - piety, righteousness.
How to interpret by proper names? If a sick person dreams of a person named Salim (prosperity), it means that he will soon recover.
According to the Prophet, daytime dreams are more truthful than nighttime dreams , since the Almighty sent him visions during the day.
Always remember the main thing: dreams come true exactly as they are interpreted . It is better to refrain from interpretation than to invite misfortune upon yourself.

Asslamu Alaikum.
I saw Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) in a dream. He stood and held in his arms a baby wrapped in a white diaper. People surrounded him in a semicircle on both sides. He was dressed in a white galabaya and smiled. I stood opposite him. He seemed to be addressing me and everyone in general, but besides me there were very few people next to me. He said that the one whom all Muslims are waiting for and who will continue his (Muhammad (pbuh)) work in this world has already been born and this is him. With these words, he handed me the baby he was holding in his arms, and then handed him over to some married couple. The Kefrians came to his words and shot an arrow at the Prophet (pbuh). The arrow pierced his chest, but he did not fall. The Kefrs were glad that they had killed Muhammad (pbuh) and went home joyfully. It must be said that it was some kind of Arab village, similar to the old villages of the last or the century before last. When the kefrs left, I was very upset. The Prophet (pbuh) took an arrow from his chest and broke it in half with both hands. The arrow was wooden. I was surprised and asked: “How can this be, Messenger of Allah, because they killed you with an arrow, I saw how it pierced your chest.” To which Mohamed (pbuh) answered me: “Of course I am alive, how can someone do something that Allah does not want or interfere with what Allah wants? Allah wants me to be alive." I was very happy and agreed with his words. Then he went to pray Sala Al-Fezr in the mosque and I followed him. I saw his feet and slippers, how he walked along the road, every step he took. The road is not asphalted, like they used to be in Arab villages, not sand or black soil. I really wanted him to go faster, because... I was afraid that the kufrs would notice him and try to kill him again, but he walked neither quickly nor slowly, with a confident, very orderly step. In the dream, I was sure that the mosque was safe. When we approached the mosque, he took off his slippers without bending down, stepped over the curb (there are curbs in the mosque that indicate that you cannot walk further in shoes) and entered the mosque. I repeated after him. Then we climbed the steps to the roof of the mosque. There a man spoke the adhan (called people to prayer), but his voice was weak and he himself was weak, although he tried very hard. Mohammed (pbuh) moved him away with his hand, very carefully and began to proclaim the adhan himself in a very beautiful and loud voice. After each sentence, he turned to me and translated the meaning of what was said into Russian. (By the way, this is how I actually learned the translation of the adhan; I didn’t know it before). The Kefris, hearing the voice of the Prophet (pbuh), were very surprised and fell into horror, they ran out of their houses and froze in fear. This is where I woke up. ReplyDelete
Dream actions
Dreams can be divided into three categories according to the effect they have:
- true dreams that righteous people or prophets can see, and the one who saw follows the interpretation of the dream. They can be seen not only by prophets or righteous people, but also by other people, but this is in rare cases. A similar example is the case when an unfaithful king saw a dream of truth, which was interpreted by the prophet Yusuf. True dreams are realized in life.
- Mixed dreams that contain some kind of warning. Such dreams are divided into: dreams as a result of the games of Satan, which are dreamed with the aim of upsetting the one who sees them, causing his fear;
- a dream in which angels come to people, but tell them about something that is forbidden or makes no sense.
